I had a chance to see “Becoming Led Zeppelin” yesterday–great movie about an iconic band! I remember picking up a guitar as a teenager and scouring the internet for tabs to learn Led Zeppelin songs. “When the Levee Breaks” is still one of my all-time favs.
There was a quote that stood out to me in the movie, something along the lines of: “Led Zeppelin wasn’t any of us; it was the air between us.”
Each band member shared how their ability to trust and be vulnerable with each other led to unbridled creativity, incredible improvised live solos, and drove the band’s success as a whole.
How is your team doing?
Are you able to resolve conflict through direct and honest conversations, or does unresolved conflict linger for weeks or months until a blow up?
As a leader, do your team members collaborate directly with each other to present solutions, and drive the “how” of things are done? Or do you find yourself constantly intervening, breaking up conflict, and getting into the weeds?
A team that operates in a high-trust, empathetic environment bursts at the seams with creative energy, and achieves the unthinkable. It’s the “air between” each team member, the culture that drives them to lift each other up and cheer for each other’s successes–each team member knows that these successes represent that of the whole.
I’ve built and transformed multiple high-performing engineering teams, and the underlying culture that supported their ongoing successes.
I’d be happy to discuss a Team Coaching solution that may fit your needs, and help get your team operating at the level that you know they are capable of.
