Engineering Team & Group Coaching

Engineering Team & Group Coaching

Team Coaching involves individuals from the same team, which can include a leader and their direct IC reports, or a group of peer leaders and their senior leader (management team)

Sample Process (flexible to the needs of the team):

  • Preliminary – Discovery: Define the Goal/Scope
    • Team lead is interviewed and problem statement is defined — what is the goal of the team coaching engagement? (address ongoing conflict, missed KPI’s, poor cohesion/teamwork, adapt to organizational change, improve leadership team alignment)
    • Team members are verbally interviewed to gain holistic view of problem statement and any additional necessary context
  • Phase 1 – Assessment: Gather Additional Background/Context
    • Leader and team members receive and complete assessment invites as necessary
    • Available assessment suite includes EQi 2.0/EQi 360, Everything DiSC, ProfileXT (based on scope of engagement)
  • Phase 2 – Kickoff Workshop: Common Ground and Team Charter
    • Team meets virtually or in-person to gain alignment on problem statement, discuss relevant context and assessment data from Phase 1 & 2
    • Team creates “Team Charter” that defines communication, accountability, and conflict resolution process as the team works together toward their goal(s)
    • Team makes commitments on next steps forward
  • Phase 3 – Ongoing Development: Continued Investment in Team Alignment
    • Bi-monthly or Monthly sessions with team to work through barriers, drive new patterns of communication and problem-solving, encourage one another, and reinforce wins
    • Review commitments and address accountability as needed via Team Charter protocol

Group Coaching involves individuals from various parts of a business that have similar roles/functions/goals but are not on the same immediate team (i.e. a leadership development cohort, high-potential mentor group)

Sample Process (flexible to the needs of the group):

  • Preliminary – Discovery: Define the Goal/Scope
    • Group sponsor(s) interviewed to determine learning objectives — what is the goal of the group coaching engagement? (develop conflict resolution skills, understand and manage business KPI’s, remove silos between business units, reinforce desired leadership behavior, adapt to organizational change)
  • Phase 1 – Assessment: Gather Additional Background/Context
    • Group members receive and complete assessment invites
    • 1:1 assessment debrief with each group member
    • Available assessment suite includes EQi 2.0/EQi 360, Everything DiSC, ProfileXT (based on scope of engagement)
  • Phase 2 – Kickoff Meeting: Define Group Culture & Commitments
    • Group meets virtually or in-person to gain alignment on learning objectives, discuss relevant context and assessment data from Phase 1 & 2
    • Group members share their asks of their fellow group members, what they hope to gain from the group
    • Each group member leaves with an individual set of commitments/goals for their growth throughout the engagement
  • Phase 3 – Ongoing Development: Continued Investment in Group Development
    • Bi-monthly or Monthly sessions with group to work through barriers, encourage one another, and reinforce wins
    • Review commitments/goals and address blockers that the group can help with
